Precautions for Use of Angle Grinder

Angular grinder is suitable for cutting, grinding and brushing metal and stone, and water is not allowed during operation. The rotation speed of the angle grinder is very high, often reaching tens of thousands of revolutions. If it is not used properly, it is prone to danger!

Therefore, how to use the angle grinder correctly has attracted the attention of users.

The labor protection appliances required for using the angle grinder include:

1. Protective gloves to prevent the hand from being injured by the sparks generated by grinding, and reduce the consequences caused by touching the rotating grinding wheel.

2. Protective glasses to avoid eye injury caused by sparks.

3. Safety helmet to protect the head.

4. Safety shoes to prevent being hit and slipping.

5. Work clothes.

6. Dust mask (if necessary), such as cleaning rust with a wire brush, polishing and cutting materials that are easy to get dusty, such as cement and asbestos.

Safety daily maintenance of angle grinder:

1. Before use, make sure that the power supply connected to the tool must meet the specified value of the nameplate.

2. When turning on the power supply, the tool switch should be in the “OFF” position.

3. Before operation, carefully check whether the grinding wheel meets the requirements of the reinforced fiber resin grinding wheel, and its safe linear speed shall not be less than 80m/s. The outside diameter of the grinding wheel shall not exceed the specified maximum specification of the tools used.

4. The angle grinder must have a firm and suitable grinding wheel cover, and the bracket shall not exceed 5mm from the grinding wheel, otherwise it shall not be used.

5. When replacing a new grinding wheel, cut off the main power supply. At the same time, check whether there is any crack in the grinding wheel piece before installation. If it is not easy to distinguish with the naked eye, you can lift the grinding wheel with a solid line, and then tap it gently with a piece of wood and listen to its sound. (Metal sound indicates that the grinding wheel is qualified, and dumb sound indicates that the grinding wheel is inferior.)

6. When installing the grinding wheel, the nut must not be too loose or too tight. Check whether the nut is loose before use.

7. After the grinding wheel is installed, it must be idling for 2 ~ 3 minutes to see whether its operation is balanced and whether the protection device is proper and reliable. During the test operation, two workers should be arranged, one of whom stands on the side of the grinding wheel to start the grinding wheel. If there is any abnormality, the other person will immediately cut off the power supply at the power distribution cabinet to prevent accidents.

8. All users should wear protective glasses, not facing the grinding wheel, but standing on the side. When using the angle grinder, gloves are not allowed, and it is forbidden to use cotton yarn to wrap the cutter for grinding.

9. Before use, check whether the grinding wheel is in good condition (no cracks, flaws, or damages) and whether the grinding wheel shaft is installed firmly and reliably. Whether there are sundries between the angle grinder and the protective cover and whether it meets the safety requirements, and then start the angle grinder when it is confirmed that there is no problem.

Precautions during the use of angle grinder

1. When the grinding wheel is started, the grinding can be carried out only after the rotating speed is stabilized for 40 to 60 seconds. When grinding tools, you should stand on the side of the grinding wheel, not facing the grinding wheel, in case the grinding wheel piece breaks and flies out to hurt people.

2. On the same grinding wheel, two persons are not allowed to use it at the same time, and grinding on the side of the grinding wheel is not allowed. When grinding, the operator should stand on the side of the angle grinder, not on the front of the grinder to prevent the grinding wheel from cracking and causing accidents. At the same time, it is forbidden to wear gloves to operate, and it is forbidden to surround the pile and laugh and play when grinding.

3. When grinding, the standing position should be at an angle with the angle grinder, and the contact pressure should be even. It is forbidden to hit the grinding wheel to avoid fragmentation. Grinding wheels shall be used only for grinding cutting tools and shall not be used for grinding heavy materials or thin iron plates, soft materials (aluminum, copper, etc.) and wooden products.

4. When grinding the edge, the operator should stand on the side or oblique position of the grinding wheel, not on the front of the grinding wheel, and the cutter should be slightly higher than the center of the grinding wheel. Do not use too much force to avoid slipping and hurting your hand.

5. The grinding wheel is not allowed to get wet, and it should always be kept dry to prevent it from losing balance and causing accidents after being wet.

6. It is not allowed to grind large and long objects on the angle grinder to prevent the shattered grinding wheel from flying out and hurting people.

7. It is not allowed to grind the workpiece with one hand to prevent the workpiece from falling off and breaking the grinding wheel in the protective cover.

Precautions after using angle grinder

1. The grinding surface of the grinding wheel must be trimmed frequently. When the tool is found to be seriously jumping, it should be trimmed with a diamond pen in time.

2. The grinding wheel is not allowed to be used when it becomes thinner and smaller and is seriously worn. It should be replaced in time to ensure safety.

3. After grinding, turn off the power supply, don’t let the angle grinder run idle, and at the same time, always remove the dust accumulated in the protective cover, and regularly repair and replace the spindle lubricating grease.
